A weekend of bellies & babies.
And no, I’m not talking about the Sandy Puc’ seminar. :) I had my own weekend of bellies & babies and it was wonderful. I haven’t had a chance to really go through all the photos just yet, but I wanted to post a few photos from the different sessions.
Yesterday’s maternity session was a lot of fun despite the heat and humidity in the studio (we’re working on it, I promise!). Mr. J here is about to be a big brother, and he was so good during the photo session:

Don’t be fooled by his serious gaze here. He was all about the giggles for most of the session. :)

And a few more of my favorites from this session…

Such a wonderful family, and I can’t wait to meet J’s baby sister when she gets here!
Today I got to meet baby C who isn’t quite two weeks old yet. He was so sweet (and so tiny!) and did really well. He even slept for me which resulted in some absolutely adorable photos. A few of my favorites…

I’m still going through these photos, so I’m sure I’ll come back and post some more later. These were just so sweet that I wanted to go ahead and post them right away. It’s hard to remember my own kiddos being that small, but I know they were. :)
After the baby session I had another belly session with C and R. They were both such good sports despite how hot it was in the studio, and I’m really happy with the way their photos turned out. Again, still going through them but here are a couple I just love.

I can’t wait to meet their little guy when he gets here, too! :)

Going to Gainesville…
Gainesville, Georgia, that is. :)
I met up with T and E this week for their engagement session in Gainesville. It was my first time up there, and it’s just so pretty! There are all kinds of neat old houses and buildings downtown giving the city a very southern feel. We also had MUCH better weather this time around, but I think these two might have preferred a few clouds. The sun was pretty bright even though we met late in the day.
T and E are my 08.08.08 couple and I am really looking forward to their wedding. We decided to do their engagement session at the church and it made a beautiful backdrop for these two.

I can’t believe the wedding’s only a few weeks away! But I have no doubt it will be an absolutely beautiful event. I can’t wait. :)

Hot in the city!
I know there’s a reason most couples choose to get married in the summer, but I’m beginning to question the logic behind this tradition after these last few weddings. LOL
K and D tied the knot this past Saturday at the Huntcliff River Club in Atlanta. Once again Mother Nature smiled on us and gave us a beautiful (albeit hot) day in between two days of thunderstorms. The ceremony was held outside with an amazing view of the Chattahoochee River.

Do you see all those glass bowls holding the flowers? That’s not all they’re holding…

Oh, yes. Each of those bowls held beautiful little goldfish. It was such an elegant detail, and the entire ceremony just looked beautiful. The Huntcliff River Club has tons of ancient trees that provided plenty of shelter from the sun. And since we’ve had so much rain lately everything actually looked lush and green. It was the perfect setting for K and D’s wedding day.
The bride arrived first so she could put on her dress and take a few photos. She looked absolutely stunning, of course, and she was such a trooper out in the heat! Here are a few of my favorite shots:

After K put on the finishing touches we headed outside to brave the heat and get a few shots of just her. Tammy Lyle from Lyle Photos joined me again as second shooter, and she was amazing with the gold reflector. Thanks, Tammy!

We were joined by a family of inner tubers at one point, and they became instant fans of K. The dad was so excited to stumble across our little photo session that he had his kids join the bride so he could take a quick picture. :D That’s them floating along the river hooting and hollering at us. It cracked me up!

I didn’t want my bride to wilt in the heat, so I tucked her away inside…but not before a potentially disastrous event occurred. lol The bride and groom chose not to see each other before the ceremony (as do most of my couples). Usually it’s not a problem, but this venue made it a little difficult to have them both there and keep them apart. So we told the groom not to arrive until 5:30 so we could finish up the bridals and tuck her away before he got there. Well, things ran a bit late and I didn’t realize what time it was. I was taking K through the ladies’ room out to the front of the house for more photos when she turned a corner and let out a shriek! She quickly ran back the way we came and hid around the corner. I peeked around the wall and sure enough the groom was standing out in the foyer…punctual man that he was. :D I quickly snapped this shot since it was just so classic:

That’s the groom there in the background. I don’t think he really saw her, although I’m pretty sure he heard her, but when I asked him he just gave me this wry smile. Good man!
The ceremony was absolutely beautiful, and it was so full of emotion across both sides of the family. You could tell everyone was just overjoyed by this union. It was all I could do to keep the tears at bay, especially when they exchanged their vows. Sorry for all the photos, but I just wanted to share!

There came a time during the ceremony where I really wanted to ask the pastor if we could take a short 10 minute break. :D The light as just absolutely beautiful as the sun set over the river, and I wanted to get a few shots of the bride and groom together in it. Thankfully the logical side of my brain won out over the creative side and I kept my mouth shut. LOL I did sneak around and get a few shots of them in that beautiful sunset light, though.

And the flower girl and ring bearer shared a unique job during this ceremony. They brought two beautiful little boxes down the aisle, and here K and D are anxiously awaiting the arrival of those two little packages.

The boxes didn’t contain rings…they were full of beautiful little butterflies that K and D released right before they exchanged rings.

By the time we finished up with the ceremony and the formal family photos the sun had completely set. I was oh so thankful to have the videographer there with his video light during the bride & groom’s formal photos. His light cast a much nicer light than my flash, and I was able to get some beautiful photos of the newlyweds down by the river.

Yes, I like the kissy photos so future couples beware! :D
The reception was a beautiful affair with an amazing cake and cake topper. It looked just like the couple. :)

I had a wonderful time at this wedding and can’t thank K and D enough for allowing me to be a part of it. I hope you two have a wonderful time on your honeymoon, and I can’t wait to show you the proofs when you get back! Congratulations!!!!

Say, cheese!
Well, it looks like it’s going to be my turn to be on the other side of the lens…and I’m the one who will be saying “Cheese!” for a change. :D
Dalisa and John Michael Cooper, the amazing team behind AltF, are getting ready to embark on their summer workshop tour. And they are giving away a free family portrait session to one lucky photographer at each of their stops. And they have chosen yours truly for the Atlanta leg of the tour.
WOO HOO!!
I have not had a family portrait taken since my daughter was two weeks old. She’s now 25 months old. There are precious few photos of me period, so I’m really looking forward to having a family portrait taken by such amazing photographers.
But here’s the really cool thing…their family portrait giveaways are in the Pay It Forward style. So I am offering up a free family portrait session for a local Atlanta photographer and his/her family. Now, family doesn’t have to be used in the traditional sense. If your puppies are your kids, they count too. :)
I’ll post the full details soon along with instructions on how to plead your case. In the mean time, if you happen to know a local Atlanta photographer, please send this blog post to them. I’m really excited to share the love Pay It Forward style. :)

Congratulations, Miss V!
I’d like to congratulate Miss V as our first Celebrate Summer winner!!
Miss V came in last month for a maternity session, and she’s the one who was a total trooper and toughed out the un-airconditioned studio. You’d never know we were all baking in there because her photos turned out beautifully!

Miss V won a gift certificate for a spa manicure and pedicure from Salon Doremi. I hope you enjoy being pampered. :)
I am still working on the giveaway for July, but I should have it all finalized by next week. Remember, everyone who comes in for a portrait session is automatically entered into the drawing. We still have a few session appointments available for July, so just give us a call! And have a safe and happpy 4th of July holiday. :)
