Did you know that October is Family Portrait Month?  Well, it is.  :-)  And here’s what that means…

“During October, participating member studios of Professional Photographers of America (PPA) from across the country are joining together for “Family Portrait Month“, a national fund-raising effort to benefit Operation Smile, which helps children who suffer with cleft lips, cleft palates and other facial deformities.

These professional photographers have pledged to contribute a portion of each October Family Portrait Month sale to PPA Charities, which has chosen Operation Smile as its charitable partner.

October is an ideal time for families to have their portraits created, because the holiday season is just around the corner. Few gifts are appreciated as much as portraits of family members.

When families participate in Family Portrait Month, they will change the lives of children who would otherwise face a lifetime of pain and rejection. Each year, Operation Smile, a private, not-for-profit organization with thousands of volunteer surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses and other specialized health care professionals, performs free surgeries on thousands of needy children around the world. In as little as 45 minutes and for a cost of approximately $240, one cleft lip surgery can change a child’s life forever. Each year, more than 100,000 children are born with a facial deformity in Operation Smile’s 25 partner countries. Tens of thousands remain untreated.”

Eclectic Photo is proud to announce our participation in Family Portrait Month!  We will donate a portion of proceeds from all portrait sessions during the month of October to Operation Smile.  We’d love for you all to be a part of this wonderful opportunity, too.  :-)

We are in the process of putting together a special Family Portrait Special good for the month of October.  We should have the details for you in the next couple of weeks, and we’re accepting session appointments now.  Be sure to book your session early since we have a limited number of appointments available!

We think this is a wonderful opportunity to give something back…and what better gift to give a child than a beautiful smile?  And since October is the start of the holiday season, we also think it’s a great time to do something for someone else.

It’s official! The brand new Eclectic Photo is here!

As you can see we’ve made a few changes around here. We have a new logo, a new design, and a few new offerings for our clients. Don’t worry, though…we’re still the same ol’ Eclectic Photo underneath the fancy new design. ;-)

We are also making a few changes to our prices and photo collections that will go into effect September 1, 2007. Not much is changing, but we are discontinuing a few things as we add in cool new replacements. All sessions that take place before September 1 will still be under the old prices. I had more fun with blooming bellies this past weekend with Pam & Michael. They’re expecting their first baby next month, and Pam’s sister surprised her with a maternity session gift certificate from Eclectic Photo. How cool is her sister?

The two of them were a lot of fun, and I really had a great time photographing them. They reminded me a lot of some very close friends, so it felt like I had known them forever. :-)
