This weekend I had a one year portrait session with the absolutely adorable Baby C (although, she’s not a baby anymore!). It is crazy to see this little girl turning one since I did her mom’s maternity portraits. Where does the time go??

I haven’t had a chance to finish going through the photos just yet, but I wanted to post a few of my favorites.

C was a tough cookie and knew I was pulling out all my tricks to get her to smile. And while she didn’t appear to cooperate I’m happy to say we were able to capture quite a few giggles and grins.

C has a “brother and sister” in the form of these two little Dachshunds. They are such a part of the family that I had to get them in a few of the pictures. When I saw C looking out the window I had a flashback to a photo of me when I was about two. I was standing at my grandmother’s front window with her boxer, Luigi. We were both the same height, and we were both standing at the window looking at something that held our attention. I wanted to recreate the shot with C and the puppies. It’s not quite the same, but I still love this shot:

How cute are they?? I love how the dogs are literally joined at the hip. :D

C’s mom brought out this beautiful little rocking chair for the photo session. It turned out she received it on her first birthday, and I thought it was a wonderful idea to include it in C’s photos as well. I have many more of this chair, but I just loved the way this one turned out.

As much as I loved photographing C, I had almost as much fun with the doggies:

Since I work with mostly pregnant women and older babies, it’s easy to forget just how sweet and delicate those brand new babies really are. But I was so fortunate to have a nice reminder earlier this week when I got to photograph Baby A. And she was only four days old. :-)

Now, both of my kiddos were big babies. My son, who was almost a week early, weighed in at 8lbs 3oz. I remember thinking how heavy he felt when they put him on my chest for the first time. And warm! He was so warm. But he was tiny compared to my daughter who weighed in at a whopping 8lbs 14oz!! I did a double-take when the doctor told me how much she weighed because I just could not comprehend that I had given birth to an almost 9lb baby! Oh, did I mention she was a week late too?

So when I held Baby A she felt light as air! She didn’t even crack 7lbs, and she just has the sweetest little face. But enough babbling already, right? You just want to see pictures. Well, here you go. :-)

I’m pretty sure I’m going to need to photograph more of these newborn babies. Yup, I really do. :)

I am really excited because today Eclectic Photo was featured on Brides.com! Guest blogger Tiffany Davis gave me a call yesterday to talk about engagement sessions.
