Handsome little guy!

Written by KellyT @ 2:08 pm on October 28, 2008

I was so excited to photograph this little guy today.  His mom is one of my favorite clients.  She came to me for maternity photos and we had such a great time.  Her session is still one of my favorite maternity sessions, and I’ve had so many clients ask to recreate what we did with her maternity photos.

So it’s such a wonderful thing to see her baby boy and watch him grow up.  This session was a little bittersweet for me, though, because the family is moving overseas very soon.  I know they’ll be back to visit, but I’m going to miss them!

Little Mr. L wasn’t quite sure what to think about the studio at first.  He came in for one year portraits, and he’s able to walk while holding on to something.  Which meant he pushed my little white chair all around the studio.  :D  He was so serious at first…I couldn’t even get the slightest hint of a smile out of him…

Look at that expression!  :D  No smile to be found AT ALL.  Kaelin was there with me, and she turned on the charm for L big time.  He was totally unimpressed at first, and thankfully Kaelin was completely unphased by it.  She made a great assistant.  :)

After a while, something tickled L’s funny bone and he was all smiles.  And I absolutely love the way his photos turned out.  Isn’t he handsome?  He’s going to be a heart breaker when he gets older!  A few of my favorites from today:

See what I mean?  Total cutie pie.  He was such a good boy and I just love his smile.  He warmed up to Kaelin afterwards, but she wanted nothing to do with him once he showed an interest.  Typical woman.  ;-)

Thanks for bringing in L for pictures today!  I’ll have your proof gallery posted ASAP.  :)

Meet Baby A.

Written by KellyT @ 8:58 am on October 24, 2008

I was so excited to photograph this baby girl!  I photographed her mom and dad’s wedding last year, so it’s a really neat experience to photograph the next stage of their lives together!

Baby A’s mom was my first Blooming Belly client, and here’s the completed version:

I would love to do more of these maternity progressions.  I love seeing how the mom changes throughout pregnancy.  I really wish I’d done one when I was pregnant with either of my kiddos.

Baby A is too cute for words, and she was wide awake for most of our session!  She’s just over two weeks in these photos (I think), and that girl is a serious wiggle worm.  She kept trying to roll out of the basket I use for baby photos, so I finally had to just put her straight on the floor.  LOL  Here are a few of my favorite photos:

Ninja Baby!  :D

It was great to finally get to meet this little cutie pie!  I’ve been waiting a while and I hope I get to see lots more of her.  :)  Congratulations B & V!  She’s beautiful.  :)

I’m a bad blogger!

Written by KellyT @ 10:25 am on October 21, 2008

Once again I’m behind on blogging.  I would complain about being busy, but it’s a good thing so I’ll just say I’ve been keeping my readers in suspense instead.  ;-)

This past weekend I met up with Brian and Lori for their engagement session, and I had a BLAST!  These two are just so much fun, and their session felt more like hanging out with old friends.

We really wanted to do something that reflected them and their fun personalities, so we met up at their favorite bar in town:  the Highlander.  I’d never been there before, but I could see why Brian and Lori like it so much.  Trust me when I say there were plenty of photo opps down there.  :D

After hanging out for a bit they decided to play air hockey.  And the really fun photos began…

I’d love to say that Lori totally kicked Brian’s butt at air hockey but she didn’t.  I’m pretty sure he cheated, though.  :D

After air hockey we decided to take a stroll down Virginia.  Along the way we ran across some very cool graffiti so we grabbed a few shots.

Opting to pay heed to the “No Trespassing” graffit we decided to scoot out of there and walk down to a cute little children’s park.  We were slightly distracted by a variety store that sold a plethora of fun junk that we couldn’t pass up.  So, of course, I had to take pictures of the shopping experience.  At one point one of the store clerks came up to me and asked, “Can I help you find anything ma’am?”  I was squatting down taking a picture of Brian and Lori battling with light sabers (photo to follow), so he asked, “Oh, are you taking photos of your kids?”  He peeked around the corner, saw Brian and Lori battling, looked at me with one quick blink, and walked away without saying another word.  Hahahaha!  :D

Good vs. Evil.  I’m pretty sure Lori DID win this battle.  lol

I figured a manager was being alerted to our presence so we decided to grab our treasures and check out.  On our way to the children’s park I saw a bunch of newspaper stands and decided to recreate a shot by the oh-so-talented Anne Ruthmann.  I loved the colors and how well Brian and Lori coordinated with them.  :)

The children’s park had lots of fun spots to take photos, and we took full advantage of every single one.

Congratulations, you two!  I had a great time, and I cannot wait for your wedding.  I have no doubt it’s going to be even more fun than your engagement session.  :)
