Eclectic Photo is proud to announce our first annual Baby & Child Portrait Contest!

Eclectic Photo has teamed up with F-Stop Studios and Miller’s Professional Imaging to bring you this year’s Baby & Child Portrait Contest.  And it couldn’t be any easier to enter!  Simply book a portrait session with our studio and we’ll take care of the rest.  All sessions must take place BEFORE June 10, 2009 in order to meet the submission deadline.

We’ll choose our favorite photo from your session and submit it to the contest.  There are four different portrait categories including:  Color, Black & White/Sepia, Special Needs, and Humorous.

The online contest will consist of four different qualifying rounds and one final round. Each round will last for one month.  Be sure to tell your friends and family about the contest so they can vote!  Voting deadlines for each round are as follows:

• Round 1 (March):  Vote on Entries – March 22 – 31.
• Round 2 (April):  Vote on Entries – April 22 – 30.
• Round 3 (May):  Vote on Entries – May 22 – 31.
• Round 4 (June):  Vote on Entries – June 22 – 30.

For each qualifying round, the top five winners will be selected from the four categories and will receive a studio sample of their winning image. These winning portraits will be entered into the Final Round, which takes place during the month of July. The Final Round will be judged online by a panel of esteemed photographers. First, Second, and Third places, as well as two Honorable Mentions, will be announced for each category! Cash prizes for these winners include $2,000 for First, $1,000 for Second, $750 for Third, and $500 for each Honorable Mention. One portrait from the Final Round will also receive the highest of accolades — Grand Prize Winner. The cash prize will be $5,000 for this lucky winner! All cash prizes will be given to the families of the winning portraits.

And it’s as simple as that!  Please note:  we will NOT automatically enter portrait clients into this contest.  You must request to participate in the contest, and you will be required to sign a model release giving us permission to enter your child’s photo into the contest.

Here are the official rules:

• All portraits taken January 1- June 10, 2009 are eligible for entry into the 2009 Baby & Child Contest.
• Participants may post one image per child from each photography session. Miller’s reserves the right to delete multiple submissions from one session.
• Miller’s reserves the right to delete any submission that is inappropriate in nature.
• Miller’s will not use any participants’ images without prior written consent.
• Children age 12 and under can be entered into the contest.
• Maternity shots do not fall within any of the available categories.

I don’t get to photograph nearly enough newborns, I swear.  The D family brought in their beautiful baby girl over the weekend, and she’s entirely too cute for words!  So how about I share a few photos instead?  :)

Baby K’s two weeks old in these photos, and she has the most hair I’ve ever seen on a newborn.  I loved it!  She was also such a good sleeper.  Most of my newborns stay WIDE AWAKE for their sessions, so it was nice to have a sleepy baby.  She’s just so little and snuggly in the photos.  Which I will now show you…LOL…

I’m really happy with the way this shot turned out, and I’m so glad K cooperated for us!

There are few things sweeter than a newborn baby girl with her Daddy.  :)

Eclectic Photo is giving away a handful of high school senior portrait sessions this Spring.  We’re looking to build up our seniors portfolio, so this is a great opportunity for you guys to get some killer senior portraits.  :)

Now, these sessions will not be your typical senior portrait sessions.  They will take place on location and will be lifestyle portraits.  What does that mean?  It means the photos will actually reflect YOU and your personality.  They won’t be those posed formal portraits, but we’ll make sure we get some great “normal” portraits to keep Mom, Dad and Grandma happy.  :)

Here are the details:

• the sessions will take place on location one day this spring in the late afternoon
• each participating senior will receive a disc with five full-resolution images released for printing
• all participants will be required to sign a model release so the images may be used for marketing and advertising (if you’re under 18 we’ll need a guardian’s signature)
• we’re hoping to get groups of friends together for the sessions so we can do both group and individual shots
• we’re looking for guys and girls to participate, so call up a few friends to see if they want to join us!
